Part-time Business Administration and Engineering (B.Sc.)
Programme description (brief)
Industry and research today are showing an increased preference towards specialists who are competent in both economic and technical matters. Poor technical understanding on the part of business economists or insufficiently developed cost awareness and poor marketing skills on the part of the engineers result all too often in inefficient operating procedures and products which are not tailored to the particular market.
Industrial engineers possess knowledge and abilities from both of these fields. They are in a position to coordinate operation and production procedures professionally and optimise them. This interface function is taking on ever more significance both within a company (e.g., between research and development, production, controlling, etc.) and in relation to the customer, in marketing and in authorities and institutions.
In addition to the professional qualification, the communication of social skills and the development of interdisciplinary "networked" thinking form the focus of the Combined Course in Industrial Engineering.
The part-time course in business administration and engineering is an innovative course as it is a university qualification which can be completed at the same time as working or completing vocational training. In addition to self-study phases, which form approx. 70% of the course, there are also regular on-site learning phases where presence is required, which amount to approx. 30%. This course communicates technical and economic knowledge interdisciplinarily corresponding to the requirements of business situations.
