If you are a refugee currently living in our region, you can find out how you can participate in university and further education from this overview page.

- Guest student programmes at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (FH SWF)
If you would simply like to find out what kind of research and teaching the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences provides, you can apply to audit modules as guest student. The guest student status is free of charge. You can find more information (in German)here
- Language Classes
Specific information about language courses at the university´s different locations will soon be provided here.
Test your language level. The online language assessment test is intended for refugees who would like to start or continue their studies in Germany. Registered refugees can take this test for free, with instructions in German or in English. Further information here
OLS is a programme of the European Union that enables you to take online language courses for free.

- Are you interested in studying in Germany and have you acquired a university entrance qualification in your home country?
You can apply for a free assessment of your documents via uni assist as long as the following three conditions apply to you:
- You are registered as refugee.
- You are interested in enrolling in a specific degree course.
- You have completed the Test-AS language assessment and have received your assessment result.
As an alternative to the Test-AS you also have the option of receiving a language assessment certificate from the South Westphalia University. In some cases this certificate is accepted in order to qualify for a free assessment by uni assist. - Financial Support
If you meet certain criteria, you can apply for financial support for your studies via the German university grant administration BAföG.
Please contact the Dortmund Student Administration Branch in order to find out if you meet the criteria.
