Part-time Mechatronics (B.Eng.)

Programme description (brief)

The application-oriented part-time Course in Mechatronics is aimed on the one hand at people who are already working but still interested in studying from the fields of mechanical engineering, instrument, systems and automotive engineering, electrical engineering and automation technology, repairs, service and sales, who want to build on their professional and methodical capabilities alongside their employment and attain an officially recognised university degree. On the other hand, it is aimed at trainees who wish to begin their studies parallel to their vocational training.

The part time course is a university qualification which can be completed at the same time as working or completing vocational training. In addition to self-study phases, which form approx. 70% of the course, there are also regular on-site learning phases where presence is required, which currently amount to approx. 30%.

Career prospects

The field of activity for mechatronic energies is very diverse: mechatronic systems are employed both in all automated production and installation systems in industry and systems technology and in modern products themselves. Typical examples in addition to stationary machines such as robots are cars with their wide range of mechatronic solutions (e.g., ABS, ESP). However, consumer goods like washing and coffee machines, digital cameras and computer peripheral input and output devices as well as agriculture and aviation would be unthinkable without the use of complex mechatronic systems.
